University of Miami Marine Master Plan Paint Study
Linea 5, inc. provided professional design services for the creation of a campus-wide master plan for a building paint restoration and way-finding strategy. The marine campus is a part of the University of Miami and is located on Rickenbacker Causeway, Key Biscayne. Both private and public boat traffic can view most of the buildings from the water. Therefore, a color palette was carefully selected, in order to maintain the marine campus’ identity with the University of Miami, while respecting the City of Miami’s larger population. The building color scheme proposal is based on modern tropical influences. The international codification of flags used for marine navigation is adapted to a wayfinding strategy. Each color and flag is coded to match the associated marine campus buildings. This system will be used to find buildings throughout the campus.
