University of Miami South Campus Renovation
Linea 5, Inc. Architects renovated a outdated library warehouse into a modern genomics research center for the University of Miami. The project was completed on an accelerated time schedule, with completion of each building phased to allow for the institute to ramp up personnel into the new space. The UM Genomics Institute is only the second of its kind in the United States. More than 30 researchers will be working in state-of-the-art laboratories and offices. The institute will be running in three buildings A, B, & C, located west of the Miami Metrozoo. The buildings that once housed UM library archives will now be the home of complex robots that will be able to measure 200 million genetic variations in a week.
